The left panel of the dialog is used to select the category of preferences such as Flow Diagram or Eval. Selecting the category on the left panel will display that category's preference settings in the right panel.

When the Dialog is accepted, using the Ok or Apply buttons, the preferences are saved to a file and used for all subsequent operations in X-Amin. Furthermore, if the 'Apply new preferences to open windows' control in the General catergory is selected, the preferences changes will be applied immediately to all open windows.

Selecting the Default button will revert all preferences to the initial factory settings.

The specifics for the General category preferences are discussed below. The specifics for all other categories are discussed in their corresponding sections of the Guided Tour chapter.

 

General Preferences

The General Preferences are partitioned into two groups, General and Workspace. The General group, shown above, contains controls for the GUI Main Window appearance and overall application operation.

The Workspace group, shown below, contains controls for the Main Workspace panel. The workspace can be placed in MDI, Tabbed or Top-level mode. The background image of the workspace can also be selected.
